Choices - the very essence of life. What we are today or what we become in the future is a consequence of the choices we make in the present.
So it is very obvious when I tell you that our career too shapes up on the basis of our choices.
I know we often complain about lack of choices and go for stereotype careers like engineering, Medicals or finances.
But what we do not realize is that this world is full of career opportunities that we feel don not even exist.
Hence, the first step towards a successful career is to DISCOVER YOUR CALLING. You need to reach out to yourself and identify the one thing you love doing.
It is as simple as that. It can be singing, acting, surfing the internet or maybe even writing.
If you have got a zest for absolutely anything then this world has a career to offer. But in order to finish a race we must know where the finish line is. So, you need to know where you want to end up before you actually end up there.
Once you have located your target, it should become one-way traffic for you.
Proper strategy will surely take you to the end. With proper strategy I mean the right institutions, the right people and the right attitude all of which work towards laying the foundation of a strong and healthy career.
One has to realize that every career has a certain rate at which it grows into success and one has to be patient and perseverant in order to achieve his target.
But all things aside, one cannot undermine the fact that there is no short-cut to success. So, you should know how to wait in order to reap the benefits of your efforts.
If one has the right skills and a desire to learn then surely the jobs market has an unbelievable number of choices for him/her. Remember, there will never be a shortage of jobs for you, given, you have the skill and the ambition to make it.
So, when do you think is the time when your career starts taking shape? Is it after high school?
After graduation? After post graduation? Or is it when we are small kids and can't even spell career?
After taking all of the cases into consideration we realize that a successful career has nothing to do with age or the prevalent phase of our life.
Our career begins when we start developing our skills and ambition in the right direction.
Even as kids when we are asked what we would like to become when we grow up, we have answers such as doctor, engineer, footballer or sometimes even the president.
But as we all know, we often end up becoming something we have not even heard of.
If you don't agree with me you can ask any of the professionals working in any industry today if they knew they would become a sales-coordinator, a programmer, an illustrator or maybe an aircraft maintenance engineer.
This goes to show the vast variety of careers the market has to offer. In fact, the possibilities are so vast that it can be a humongous task for anyone entering the market. Anyway, let us have a brief look at some of the options.
Engineering
From roads to automobiles, from cell phones to laptops, everything has an engineer involved somewhere. This is one job that can never go out of fashion.
Media
It is often termed as the path to fame and has options ranging from an actress to a journalist. The entry is usually made as a junior researcher or a runner.

This choice is full of honor and respect along with a lot of reputation. But be warned, it is not for the weak of the heart.
Finance & Banking
Money is power, and those who control money are powerful. This sector involves bank tellers, advisors, accountants and brokers.
Education
Teachers, very obviously, never go out of demand. This rewarding career includes coaches, instructors, and professors.
Medicine
As long as humans thrive this sector will continue to bloom and has several prospects.
